The Bassinet

This bassinet is a family heirloom. I believe Ben's, Mom's, Dad made it and Ben and all of his 5 brothers used it. Now that their are grandkids, all the grandkids have used it. Connor makes grandbaby #7 and Ben's mom wanted to make some new bedding. We went to JoAnn's and had to pick some fabric that could go boy or girl. This is what we came up with. I am totally in love with it! She did such an AMAZING job on it! Thanks so much!

Baby's Room

Here is one picture I'll share of the baby's room.  I still haven't quite finished it yet.  I have a table I am re-doing that will go next to the chair with a cute lamp and I have some fun lanterns to hang up.  I also need to hang the drapes and come up with a name so I can personalize it (any cute names you want to share??  I'm getting desperate!!  I need a name!).  Anyway...let me know what you think!   I will post the finished product when I'm done...I still have 12 more weeks left...10 weeks if I have it my way:)

My 10 Favorite Things in My House

Tip Junkie has a posting on What your 10 Favorite thing are in your home. I always like to see what people's homes look like, what their surroundings are, etc. So, maybe you will enjoy mine. They are in no particular order...

1. This is my Family Room. I have always loved this spot. I think it gives a nice comfy, warm feel.
2. This is in between my Dining Room and Living Room...just a little seating area. Oh...got the mirror for $8 at Kirklands...go me!
3. This is in my entry way. I have a huge wall and wanted something to fill up a bit of space.
4. This is also in my entry.
5. This is the Boy's Bathroom. I had it all done up safari style, but they never appreciated it, so I decided to make it pretty...The cute bench...Kirklands...$5.
6. This is the Boy's playroom. Well, I should say WAS their playroom. We have played musical rooms for the past several months. It is now Caden's room. Their is a bed to the left and the Bookshelf is to the right.
7. This is my Bedroom. I LOVE my bedroom. It's very warm and inviting. Oh, btw, I made those cute plaques above the bed.
8. This is my fireplace mantle. It was white before and I hated it. It just didn't work with my stuff. So, I got brave and painted it black. Best thing I have ever done.
9. This is also in the Family Room. I just really like the temple picture on the Entertainment center.

10. My wonderful husband had these beauties sent to me today. Just because flowers. I have never gotten Sunflowers before, they are now at the top of my favorite flowers list!! Thanks sweetie!! I love you!11. I know...it is 10 favorite things, but hey...the flowers will eventually die, right??? This sits on my kitchen table. Nothing spectacular, I just love it because I can switch it up every holiday and put some fun stuff in there. I got it for $5 bucks at Hobby Lobby. I think I get really excited when I find good deals...I have to brag. Sorry!!

Project Bathroom

You may be wondering why I have all of a sudden been doing all these projects to my house...well in about 1 1/2 weeks, the ladies at my church are coming over to my house so I can give them tips on decorating. No pressure!! There are so many things that I need to get done! At least I have a reason to do the things I've been meaning to do! Like the boys bathroom. It is pretty much the last room to be painted. And let me tell you how badly it needed it...well, let's just say that boys like to wipe "things" next to the toilet...enough said! It needed a fresh coat of EGGSHELL paint rather than the flat paint cheap builders use! So, without further ado...the before and after pictures of the bathroom!
Before: boring bathroom
Before
After! It's my new favorite room in the house. I might just use this bathroom instead of my own! We will see!
Now, the shelf may look too high, the picture just made it look that way. We had to have Ben test out how high it should be so no one will hit their head on it when they stand up. So no worries anyone! Your head is safe!
Now, the next project is for my Dad to come up and put in some nice tile instead of the awful vinyl that is there! Hope your up to it Dad!!

My New Fireplace Mantle

I just wanted to share my weekend project with you all! I always hated my fireplace mantle, it was white. I don't own anything white. So, I was brave and painted it black and distressed it. I am so glad I did it! Now, I was pressured into getting this blogged before I could make it look really cute. I am still on the hunt for cute things to put on it and when it is officially done, I will blog that for you! Oh, and I did have a before picture and for some reason I deleted it...I am trying to search for it...we will see. Just imagine a boring white mantle.I thought that since the rest of the room is now complete, almost, that I would post the rest of what my family room looks like. Hope you like it! My favorite piece is my treasured leopard ottoman. I LOVE it!!

The Key Word is EYE LEVEL!

Most of you know that I am an Interior Designer and one of the questions I get asked the most is, "What do I do with my pictures?" Well, this is one idea people can do:

* I just got a really cheap rod from Target, you can see I it is hung pretty high up, you want the middle picture to be EYE LEVEL,

* Then get several similar picture frames (in same color) and have the same matt for each picture frame. Here I have 3 (5x7) pictures, 1 (8x10) picture, and 1 (3x5) picture, the frames are bigger.

* Get some really thick ribbon and a glue gun and glue the ribbon to the back of the picture frame. You are also going to want to still nail the pictures to the wall, otherwise they will move and swing back and forth.

* Then tie the ribbon to the rod.

* Voila, a nice way to hang several pictures to the wall.

* Now, a bit of a lecture on my biggest pet peeve...PLEASE, please, please hang your pictures at EYE LEVEL! Whatever is in between for you and spouse...that is eye level. You don't want people to come into your home and have to crank their necks up to the ceiling to see your pictures. Thank you, I feel better now.

* And just so you know, the picture was taken at an angle, but my frames are straight! Which is VERY important!
