Hooded Towel

So I'm back from my long break of no blogging...it was not by choice, just so you know. Our hard drive fried. Yup...I lost all my pictures from June until now. So basically I lost ALL of Connors pictures:( Thank goodness for my blog and that I put a ton of pics of him on here. Our computer is finally up and running and hopefully I didn't loose all 5 of my fans who read my blog!!

These are not your typical hooded towel! I saw a tutorial (from Crap I've Made blog) on these and HAD to make them. I have a friend who is expected twins! One boy and one girl. Found some cute fabric that would work for both and voila...towels and matching wash cloths. These took me forever to make. The stupid terry cloth was so not working for me. That stuff stretches beyond belief! Oh well. They turned out cute, thats all that matters, right?

Anyway, I hope you like them and maybe you can make one too, if your up to a fun project!

"Be" Blocks

I know, I know...cute right???  I made these "Be" blocks and had to post them.  I haven't seen anything like these!  A huge thank you to Not So Idle Hands for the idea and the vinyl!  Oh...did I mention how easy they were?

YW Birthdays

I needed to come up with something cheap for my Laurels for their Birthdays.  They said they wanted me to make them cupcakes and then we sing, "Happy Birthday".  But things get too busy and thats alot of cupcakes to make:)  So, I thought and thought and came up with this.  I got a BIG Mason jar, put the cakemix in that and then typed up the recipe for them.  Then of course just made the jar look cute.  I also got them some frosting and wraped paper around that as well.
This is the final product.  I just wraped the two in some cellaphane and tied it up with a bow.  This whole thing probably cost about $2.  Not too shabby!  The girls were pretty excited about them!  Just a thought for all you YW leaders out there, or even good for VT or for a friend.  You could even add cupcake liners, candles, put it in a cute basket with that crimpy stringy paper on the bottom.  Just a thought!!

Tile Coasters

I just made some coasters and wanted to share them with you! Too bad I didn't do this at Christmas time...they would have made really cute gifts! Oh well...maybe next year:)
Anyway...these were so easy to make!!! Here is what you need:

1. Tumbled tiles, 4x4's (they come 9 to a box at Home Depot and cost $5 or $6)
2. Stamps
3. Stazon ink...color Timber Brown
4. Distressed ink (optional)...color brushed corduroy
5. Sponge
6. Spray adhesive so the water from the cup won't ruin them
7. Cork for the bottom

First wipe down each tile (there is a powder on all of them).
Then stamp away with the stazon ink.
I then used the distressed ink and sponge and inked the edges and the whole tile to make it looke a little distressed.
Let the ink dry.
Then preheat the oven to 330 degrees and bake them for about 3 minutes.
After that, spray with the adhesive. (Spray this stuff outside!! On top of newspaper!!)
When it is all dry, put some cork board on the bottom (it is sticky on one side, so just cut it to the right size and stick it on)
That's it! Very easy!! Hope you have fun making them!

Welcome to Texas!

***UPDATE: I totally forgot to add where the tins idea came from: Dannie's Designs and you can buy the tins here!

My brothers new in-laws were coming to Texas for the Houston Reception and we wanted to give them a little welcome bag...we put some fun Texas stuff in there, lots of snacks, chocolate, as well as a list of hot spots in Houston that they could visit and eat. Here are the tins I made.
They are just Hershey Nuggets wrapped in cute paper.
Also we wrapped matching paper on the water bottles and added a little "to go" Crystal Light flavoring.
Here is the final product. We got this idea from my sister-in-law, Ainsley. When her and Josh got married, we had a bag waiting in our hotel room. We loved it and thought it was so nice to have. We had maps to get us everywhere...loved it. Thanks for the inspiration Ainsley!
