Homemade Gummi Candy

Noah and I made some Gummi Candy today...so easy and so fun. It is something a 4 year old could do, no problem. Not to mention that they taste so yummy! I got the recipe from Skip to My Lou...she has so many fun ideas!!We used a medicine dropper to make it easier for Noah to get the mixture into the candy molds.

My little helper:)
The end result. We used Blue Raspberry flavored jello...not too shabby:) And yes...these candy molds are pumpkins and ghosts...thats all I had:) All that matters is the taste, right? Also, we had extra mixture so we turned them into suckers...these are Noah's favorites.

Homemade Gummi Candy

from: Skip to My Lou

All we needed was 1 -3 oz box of flavored gelatin and 2 - 1/4 oz packages of unflavored gelatin, water and candy molds. (we used two candy molds)

Place 1/3 cup water in a small sauce pan. Sprinkle the Jello and unflavored gelatin over the water. Let sit 5 - 10 minutes. (If you like chewier gummi candy add in another packet of unflavored gelatin.)

Place sauce pan over medium heat and stir until gelatin is dissolved, about 2-5 minutes. When mixture is liquid and all gelatin has dissolved, remove from heat. Let cool a minute and then pour into a container that is easy to pour from. I use a small ceramic creamer pitcher.

Fill molds.

Allow to cool completely, about 20 minutes. They may be placed in a refrigerator for about 10 minutes if the kids are eager.

Once cool, the backs can be lightly dusted with corn starch, if desired.

Peel the gummi candy out of the molds. Don't be shy, you won't hurt them when peeling them from the molds. No need to oil the molds!

Rainbow Cookie Pops

These were so fun to make! The boys loved being able to roll the dough into circles and then into snakes. It almost seems like it is play dough. It is a great little summer activity. These look really cute if you put a cookie cover over it and tie the end with a bow. The recipe came from mysisterscucina.blogspot.com. You need to check out their blog, great recipes.

Rainbow Cookie Pops

3/4 c. butter, softened
3 oz. cream cheese
1 c. white sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
assorted colors of food coloring
24 lollipop sticks

In a bowl cream butter, cream cheese and sugar until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; beat until smooth.

In a medium bowl combine flour, baking powder and salt. Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture. Stir till soft dough forms. Divide dough into fourths. Tint each with a different food color. (This takes some time and fore-arm muscles, so get ready! The more the food coloring, the more vibrant the color.) Wrap each color in plastic wrap and chill for 2 hours.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Shape dough into 3/4 inch balls and for each cookie place one of each color and form into a ball. (Make sure they are all sticking together well.) Shape the big ball into a 12 inch long roll (like a snake), starting at one end, coil roll to make a cookie. Place cookies 3 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Carefully insert lollipop sticks into bottoms of cookies.

Bake cookies for 8 minutes of until lightly browned. cool and store in an airtight container.
