Carseat Canopy

Hello All! So I am attempting my first tutorial...we will see if I can do this:) Considering I am a newby at the whole sewing thing, hopefully I can use the right terms!! My sweet Aunt made one of these for me when Connor was born and I LOVE it! I never ever take it off! It's so nice when it is windy or rainy or if you have a new born and you don't want people breathing on baby when you are at the grocery store...solution...carseat canopy!!
First...I bought 1 1/2 yards of 2 different fabrics. This is what it looks like cut out...the top fabric measures 39" x 43 1/2". The bottom is 41" x 45 1/2". So the bottom fabric is 2" bigger all around. The angels are 13" long.

What I did was cut rectangles and then fold it in half and in half again and then cut the corners so they were all equal.
Pin the whole thing together. Make sure wrong sides are together.
Get your iron out and get it hot!! You are going to iron the whole thing. So fold the bottom fabric in half, iron, then go back and fold it in half again...You will end up with a 1/2" binding for the front. Iron it really well. When its all ironed, sew it together! Easy peasy.
Next up...the handles. They measure out to be 7" x 4". You can always go bigger depending on your carseat. I did 3 sets of the velcro so that way you can make sure it will fit. Fold the blanket part in half and attach them right in the middle. From the outside to the first handle is 13", then 6 1/2" space, then the next handle, then 13" to the other end...does that make sense?
The final product! This is great...instead of a blanket falling on your baby, this will never fall on them!

This is how it looks when you don't need baby covered. I made this for a friend...hence the girl cover on the boy car seat:) Let me know if you have any questions!

Character Parade

On Oct. 30 Caden got to dress up like a favorite character from a book. We happened to have an Anakin Skywalker book and costume...so BAM! instant costume. However Caden kept saying he can't dress up as a Star Wars character. What?? Anyway, we had a breast plate, whipped that over the Anikan costume and BAM! Prince Caspian from Narnia. Pretty good for the night before and being so last minute. Oh well. It worked:) All the kids got to go through the halls and have a little parade. Here are some of the pics:)
Caden and his best friend, Christian.

Noah and Maddie (Christian's little sister)...how cute are they?
Check out the cute shirts I made the boys...literally minutes before I had to be up at the school...
Ok, this was so funny. Maddie had this little doll and they were showing it to Connor and he just freaked out! He was just smiling, loving and kissing and talking up a storm to this little doll...he was so mad when we took it away! There were people stopping and watching him as he was doing this...so cute.

Me and my boys. When I look at them...I can't help but notice how different they are! In every way! Love you boys:)

Come on Barbie, Let's Go Party!

This is the first birthday party for Samantha, this one was at Chuck E. Cheese:
These are the cupcake toppers I made...and Whitney designed the cute logos...check her out if you need some, I'm sure she would gladly do them for you:)
These are the cute shirts and leggings Samantha wore for her big day...she looked darling!
Of course every girl needs to wear a tutu...
The goody bags...I needed something fun to put them in so I grabbed a bucket out of my pantry and spray painted it with chalk board paint and voila...
The cute tags Whitney designed for me...
The cupcakes: White cake with Strawberry Goodness injected in each of them with some amazing Buttercream Frosting and sparkly sprinkles on top.

Happy Birthday Samantha! Hope you had a fabulous day!

Hooded Towel

So I'm back from my long break of no blogging...it was not by choice, just so you know. Our hard drive fried. Yup...I lost all my pictures from June until now. So basically I lost ALL of Connors pictures:( Thank goodness for my blog and that I put a ton of pics of him on here. Our computer is finally up and running and hopefully I didn't loose all 5 of my fans who read my blog!!

These are not your typical hooded towel! I saw a tutorial (from Crap I've Made blog) on these and HAD to make them. I have a friend who is expected twins! One boy and one girl. Found some cute fabric that would work for both and voila...towels and matching wash cloths. These took me forever to make. The stupid terry cloth was so not working for me. That stuff stretches beyond belief! Oh well. They turned out cute, thats all that matters, right?

Anyway, I hope you like them and maybe you can make one too, if your up to a fun project!

Happy 4th Birthday Noah!

Today is Noah's 4th Birthday!! I can't believe my little guy is all grown up! He planned out the whole day for us! It started with some sugar...lots of doughnuts. We went to our favorite place and he picked out all his favorites.
Then he wanted to make some cupcakes all by himself...from start to finish. He did a pretty good job! Not too messy either!
Next came the decorating. Beautiful cupcakes with tons and tons and tons of sprinkles. I mean tons of sprinkles.
Next up...T-shirts. He wanted me to make a t-shirt for him. So last week we went to the store, he picked out his t-shirt, his fabric and his design. We had fun making it. (Unfortunately this shirt is Cadens...when we were about to eat pizza...his dinner choice...he spilt garlic butter all over it. Hopefully it won't stain).
Then we had a photo shoot with all of his projects for the day. His real celebration b-day will be on Sat. when we go to G'ma and G'pas house and go horseback riding, splash park, open presents, eat the cake he wants me to make and sing. Then we will celebrate again in Houston in 2 weeks. The boy is not lacking for b-day parties!!!

Happy birthday sweetie! I sure love you and all the randomness that comes with you:)

The Bassinet

This bassinet is a family heirloom. I believe Ben's, Mom's, Dad made it and Ben and all of his 5 brothers used it. Now that their are grandkids, all the grandkids have used it. Connor makes grandbaby #7 and Ben's mom wanted to make some new bedding. We went to JoAnn's and had to pick some fabric that could go boy or girl. This is what we came up with. I am totally in love with it! She did such an AMAZING job on it! Thanks so much!

Wet Bag

I just made this wet bag for the baby when he gets here...I think this will come in handy. Especially when he has an explosion or wets his clothes or whatever babies do (I'm out of practice big time...its been 4 years!!). I do remember always having a plastic bag with me...I think these are much cuter! The outside is cute fabric and the inside is vinyl. I found some cheap stuff at Wal-Mart that worked perfectly! It even matches the cute diaper bag that my friends got me!!
I found a tutorial on Little Birdie Secrets if you want to make one yourself! This was the first time I have EVER sewn in a zipper...if I can do it...you can do it!!

I Think I'm Nesting??

Over the last couple of weeks I have been out of control.  I think it is due to Nesting...Or maybe they finally figured out what was wrong with me (dizzy, passing out all the time, can't breathe, etc) was I had low iron (what makes me mad is that I had this with the other 2 boys and they never figured that one out?  I mean come on!!  I have had to quit driving towards the end of my pregnancies...all I had to do was take a simple iron pill??  OK...I'm off my soap box).   So, since I have had so much energy, I have been sewing, painting, cleaning, organizing etc.  So here's a sampling of what I have been up to:

Some burp cloths and binky clips.  There is a tutorial on how to do the binky clips on Little Birdie Secrets (I love them:)
Bibs, burp cloths and diaper/wipee holders.  I just LOVE this fabric.
More cuteness...
Burp cloths, bibs and tagee blanket.
Framing the amazing pics my friend Ambyr took of the boys.
A sneek peek of the babies room.  Tonight we are getting the chair rail up.  When that's done, I get to hang everything on the walls, like these guys:
I got the idea from the Nesting Place.  For some reason the link she gives is taking me some random something...Anyway.  They have been fun to make, I have 3 more that I am making.  Can't wait to get them hung...if only I could figure that out.  It's made out of styrofoam.  Should be interesting, but I WILL figure it out:)

Anyway.  That's what I have been up to.  Thankfully the boys get really excited when I make anything for their brother and not mad at me.  I did have to make them a cute blanket made out of the rockstar/flame fabric above.  That made them excited.  I think we are all ready for this little guy to come.  I have 12 weeks left.  Ugh.  It's going to be a long 12 weeks.  It is already 92 degrees outside and it is April.  That can't be a good sign.  At least I'm not in Colorado where it is still snowing!!

Getting Crafty...

Since I am going to be having 3 boys and no girls...I don't get to make all the cute things that I was planning on making.  Therefore, I decided to make the cuteness for friends.  Here is what I have been up to the last few days:
I have been addicted to etsy.com and keep running into these adorable onsies.  I thought I would give them a try and see if I could put it together and actually sew around...it can be done!  I added ribbon to the burp clothes because I can't sew straight!

Sorry...no matter what I did, this would not got the right way...just tilt your head:)  I added tutu's to my list of things I would want if I were having a girl...so put it with the onsie and voila!  Also, I had to make wipee cases...
Here is the onsie with the tutu.  Stay tuned for boy versions of everything!  Except the tutu's of course:)
